Educators, Parents and Students,

The St. Clair County Historical Society is proud to announce the first annual STUDENT HISTORY PRESENTATION FAIR.

St. Clair County is the oldest county in Illinois, established in 1790 in the Northwest Territory, twenty-eight years before the establishment of Illinois as a state in 1818.

ANY SUBJECT AND TIME PERIOD OF ST. CLAIR COUNTY HISTORY IS GAME!

All public, private and home-schooled students in 6th to 12th grades, living within St. Clair County, Illinois, are eligible. Entries from individual students will be accepted. Team presentations will not be judged for this Fair.

The Fair is divided into two categories:

  • JUNIOR (6th-8th grades)
  • SENIOR (9th-12th grades)

Both categories will compete for a first place prize of $100, the runner-up prize of $50, and one student in each category will receive an “Outstanding Achievement” award certificate.

Additionally, every student who submits a presentation will receive a one year complementary membership (student memberships are $15/year) to the St. Clair County Historical Society with all the benefits, including our monthly publication, "The Advocate."

The Fair begins on September 5, 2017 and ends on October 31, 2017. Entries may be submitted via emailed during this time.

The winners will be notified on Monday, November 13, 2017 and presented their prizes on Wednesday evening, November 15th at 7 o’clock at the Victorian Home Museum in Belleville, Illinois.

The Fair supports the St. Clair County Historical Society's mission, a legacy of preservation and education that began in 1905, by exposing students to the rich heritage and history of St. Clair County. Since history and social studies classes intertwine, this program will be an engaging way to bring our past to life.

SAVING ST. CLAIR COUNTY HISTORY, ONE STUDENT AT A TIME.
